This will provide you with access to sensitive and/or private information, including student educational records, and PLTW will understand that the entity has designated you as an individual with a legitimate educational interest in access to these records. You may have authority to provide others with access to such information and are responsible for ensuring that such access is appropriate and complies with all legal requirements.
PLTW Agreement and Program Requirements: The PLTW Program is implemented by participating entities consistent with the terms of the agreement between the entity and PLTW and the PLTW Program Requirements. Please be sure to review the PLTW Program Requirements so you are familiar with important requirements and details pertaining to the PLTW Program.
Among the changes are new provisions relating to payment of a participation fee that must be paid for all curricular programs, and language outlining the entity’s agreement regarding participation in PLTW’s online assessment system and access to student educational records. You agree that the entity will pay the participation fee as outlined in the PLTW Program Requirements.

Educational Records: Entities may designate individuals with a legitimate educational interest in accessing educational records for certain students, or all students in a school or district. Under FERPA, it is the entity’s responsibility to make these designations and to monitor these individuals to ensure that they are using the records appropriately. When making designations of individuals who will serve as an entity’s school or district administrator, please understand that these designations will give these individuals increased access to educational records, for all students in a school or district, respectively. PLTW may ask the entity to confirm these designations in writing in order to remind the entity of this access and assist the entity in complying with FERPA and protecting the privacy of the records, but PLTW is not required to do so.
PLTW assists and supports participating entities and the quality of the PLTW Program through studying and evaluating the effectiveness of the PLTW Program on an ongoing basis in order to update instructional, curricular and assessment materials and otherwise improve the instruction that PLTW participating entities provide to students. These efforts include the development, validation, and administration of assessments, examinations, surveys and/or other measurement tools on behalf of entities during their participation in the PLTW Program. PLTW’s ongoing studies review longitudinal student achievement data for the current year and the preceding four (4) to six (6) academic years, after which the data is destroyed, or, at the request of the entity, will be returned to the entity. In support of these efforts, you acknowledge your entity’s participation in the PLTW systematic assessment and evaluation process. PLTW will provide, and the entity will participate in, the PLTW online systematic assessment and evaluation process conducted by PLTW and/or its designated representatives, which includes online teacher registration, online student rostering/registration, and full participation in various assessments, examinations, surveys and/or other measurement tools using technology and other support services provided by PLTW. On behalf of the entity, you acknowledge and agree, as does PLTW, that the personally identifiable data is confidential, and shall be used, shared and maintained for the purposes set forth above and only in accordance with reasonable privacy/security measures, proper professional practices, student confidentiality and applicable laws, including FERPA. Use or access to any protected data obtained as a result of these studies will be limited to representatives with a legitimate interest in accessing this data and re-disclosure of any personally identifiable information will be done in limited instances only, and only as allowed by, and consistent with, applicable laws. The entity shall be responsible for implementing annual notifications, record-keeping and other such privacy requirements relating to these services, to the extent of FERPA, CEPA or other applicable laws.
